Profession: Advisor for multinational technology company
NoireCare Practices: Any time away from my kids and husband, these vary. There’s no set practice or specific activity. So long as I’m taking a “break” to do things I enjoy.
Who or what introduced you to what you practice?
I can’t say that I was introduced to “self-care” I just kind of knew it was a necessity for the sake of my sanity and to have some kind of balance between work and family life.
How often do you take a little me time to love on yourself? Not as much as I should, maybe once a month, I need to increase that number to 2 to 3.
Did you grow up witnessing your mom or other female elders practicing self-care? Truth be told, I don’t know that my mother knew the importance of self-care until recently. She’s the oldest of 10 children and had the responsibility of looking after her younger siblings. In some way, I introduced her to self-care and the importance of taking time to do the things that bring forth peace for your mind, body, and soul.
What is your favorite space in your home to unwind? My dining room!
What makes it special? The natural light that flows in there is of epic proportions
Is it off limits to the kids? Most time when I’m in there, my kids are asleep or they’re not around.
What are some things that you would want your children, especially your daughters to pick up about self- care from you? I would love for my girls to pick up that it’s okay to unwind, to do their best and leave the rest.
You created a line that allows you to “wear your faith,” what inspired you to launch and do you feel your brand is an act of self-care and love that you get to share with others? My husband and I created pintsizefaith out of necessity really. We were looking for neutral colored tees for kids that were faith-based minus the bright colors and cliché religious sayings. We wanted to offer parents like us options, and as God would have it became our ministry. It’s definitely an act of self-care and love. It is self-care because in order for me to come up with powerful and “cool” design I need to spend time with God to let Him guide me/us into designing things that will glorify Him. And love because I/we get to share, and talk about His love with others.
A quote, verse or song or piece of inspiration that is your go to? My favorite song is “In Christ Alone” feat. Kristian Stanfill. The lyrics are just a great reminder of who I am in Him.
