I took 2 minutes to jot down the first things that came to mind when I thought about what being intentional in caring for myself looks like. It actually had me thinking of what I have been missing, what would make me happy, more confident and focused. I decided to commit to at the very least two of these actions today. I’ve already made my bed so I am winning and I’ve logged in 6 miles this morning but those things have started to feel like the status quo and I need more. I challenge you to take two minutes and do the same. What are some things you’ve noticed you haven’t done in a long time that would make you happy?
I’ve been thinking alot about what self-care looks like for me and how it can and should be different to everybody. I have to think about it under the guise of what makes me feel happy, inspired, refreshed and excited to go through the day.
I was procrastinating on instagram earlier this week and stumbled on someone’s bullet journal submission and it was centered with the word self -care and then they jotted down how they defined it personally. I decided to sit and think for a minute and give myself 2 minutes to define self-care for me. I feel like it changes pretty regularly. These are the first things that came to mind. There are definitely must do’s like make my bed, staying hydrated, running, and making time to enjoy the kids but I know including a few more of my initial thoughts would lift my spirits and make my days filled with more inspiration and joy.
Today I am going to make sure I am intentional when I take time out to pray, I am going to twist my hair because it will make me feel super cute tomorrow and I might even paint my nails. Highlighting these few tasks reminded me that there is still time in my day to cater to me. I might have to jot down a few self-care goals daily.
Take two minutes and jot down what first comes to mind when you think about being intentional in catering to your needs. If you feel so compelled share a few in the comments or tag #noirecare in facebook or instagram.
